The first Test between the West Indies and Australia at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, has been a topsy-turvy contest thus far. The game is moving at a rapid rate as both teams are trying to wrestle the momentum in their favour. While 14 wickets fell on the opening day, the second day 2 saw 10 wickets being taken.
The West Indies started the day at 57/4, trailing Australia's first-innings total by 123 runs. Brandon King was dismissed early as the hosts lost half their side for 72 runs. Captain Roston Chase was joined by Shai Hope, who batted for the first time in a Test match since November 2021. The experienced duo forged a crucial 67-run stand off 138 deliveries to take the West Indies closer to Australia's score. Pat Cummins dismissed his opposite number after he had scored 44 runs off 108 balls.
Justin Greaves failed to make an impression with the bat as he was dismissed by all-rounder Beau Webster. The latter took confidence from that success and went on to send Hope packing for a 91-ball 48. In the end, Alzarri Joseph remained unbeaten on 23 off 20 balls as the West Indies were bowled out for 190.
Trailing by 10 runs in the second innings, Australia got off to a sedate start with Usman Khawaja and Sam Konstas adding 27 runs for the opening stand. However, Alzarri Joseph gave the home side its first breakthrough as he got the better of Khawaja. Konstas played an uncharacteristic innings, scoring five runs off 38 balls, getting dismissed by Shamar Joseph.

Cameron Green and Josh Inglis tried to weather the storm, but Jayden Seales bowled a pearler to dismiss the latter. Inglis shouldered arms to a delivery that nipped back after pitching and rattled the top of off-stump. Green's troubles with deliveries around the off-stump continued as he edged a wide delivery from Greaves straight to Chase at first slip.
Australia were 65/4 at this stage after batting 25 overs before Travis Head and Webster batted sensibly to take the tourists to 92/4 at stumps, with a lead of 82.
