Sri Lanka posted 276/8 in their allotted quota of 50 overs against India in Asia Cup 2000. Chasing 277, India lost skipper Sourav Ganguly (13 off 26) early on. Sachin Tendulkar negated the Lankan new-ball threat quite well. He went along at a decent rate and stood strong despite the middle-order failing around him.

However, a well-judged catch on the ropes at deep square leg brought Tendulkar's innings to an end on 93. He had done a lot of work, but there was still a lot to be done. Eventually, the Lankans ended up getting the better of India by 71 runs after getting them bowled out for 205.
