Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma etched their names in cricketing history during the second T20I of the ongoing five-match series between England Women and India Women as they became the most prolific batting pair in women's T20Is.
While both of them had an off day with the bat in India's victory, their 14-run opening stand meant they became the pair with most partnership runs in the shortest format.

The first two games in the current series have been widely contrasting for Mandhana and Shafali as a pair. While they added 77 in the series opener, they could add only 14 in the second before Shafali (three off four) was dismissed in the second over. Smriti fell for a run-a-ball 13-run knock three overs later.
Speaking of the game, India posted 181/4 after 20 overs and emerged victorios by 24 runs. Jemimah Rodrigues (63 off 41) and Amanjot Kaur (63* off 40) were joint top-scorers for the Harmanpreet Kaur-led outfit. Lauren Bell (2/17 in fours) impressed with the ball.

England could never stay ahead of the asking rate during the chase, as they managed only 157/7 with Tammy Beaumont (54 off 35) top-scoring. Shree Charani, who took a four-fer in the first game, impressed again with economical figures of 2/28 in her four-over quota. India have an opportunity of taking an unassailable lead in the next match of the five-match series.
