Quinton de Kock levelled Sanath Jayasuriya's tally of ODI centuries against India on December 6. de Kock registered his 23rd career ODI ton in the third ODI of the ongoing series against India at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

He reached the landmark in 62 innings fewer than the Sri Lankan great. de Kock and Jayasuriya are the only cricketers to have scored seven centuries against the Men in Blue.

The 32-year-old de Kock, who had recently reversed retirement from the 50-over format, scored 106 off 89 with eight fours and six sixes. He batted with positive intent and dispatched poor deliveries with ease. The Proteas top-order batter seemed set to convert the century into a bigger one but Prasidh Krishna's 141 kph delivery flattened his stumps in the 33rd over.

Speaking of South Africa's innings, they were bowled out for 270 in 47.5 overs. de Kock top-scored while skipper Temba Bavuma's 48 off 67 being the next highest. They lost their last five wickets for only 36 runs after looking set to cross the 300-run mark at one point.

As for the hosts, Kuldeep Yadav (4/41 in 10 overs) and Prasidh Krishna (4/66 in 9.5 overs) starred with four wickets apiece while the remaining two wickets were taken by Arshdeep Singh and Ravindra Jadeja. Harshit Rana and Tilak Varma went wicketless.

The 50-over leg of the seires is set to be followed by five T20Is. The all-format series, which commenced with the two-match Tests in November, will wrap up with five 20-over matches. The first T20I is scheduled to be played in Cuttack on Tuesday, December 9.
