Under-fire Mumbai Indians faced off against Rajasthan Royals during the 14th game of IPL 2024. The five-time winners have already lost both their opening encounters of the season to Gujarat and Hyderabad.

Rajasthan Royals came into the game having won both their games so far. Sanju Samson won the toss and chose to bowl first. Sandeep Sharma was the only change as he was suffering from a slight niggle.

The men in blue and gold seemed to find their groove after making a horrendous start to the game. The fifty for MI came when Tilak Varma swung Avesh Khan for a six in 6.4 overs.

Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma brought Mumbai Indians some relief with their lusty hitting. The two batters counter-attacked to put the pressure back on RR bowlers.

Fifty-run stand – Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma in 5.2 overs

Coming together at 20/4, Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma added 56 runs in 6 overs. The pair got their 50-run stand in the 9th over with two runs before Pandya perished for 34.

Strategic Timeout: Mumbai Indians 97/7 in 14 overs

Rajasthan Royals got themselves into the game with three wickets in quick time. After the fall of Hardik Pandya, it was the turn of Piyush Chawla and Tilak Varma to lose their wickets.

Mumbai Indians: 100 runs in 14.4 overs

The onus of taking Mumbai Indians past 100 runs lay on the shoulders of Tim David. That mark was achieved in the 15th over with a single against Ravichandran Ashwin.

Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Madhwal made sure that Mumbai Indians went past the 120-run mark. Mumbai Indians ended with 125/9 from their 20 overs to give their bowlers something to bowl at.
