The arch-rivals of the Indian T20 League, Mumbai Indians (MI), and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will lock horns against each other in match number 12 of the Indian Premier League 2023 at the famous Wankhede Stadium on 8th April 2023.
Chennai Super Kings come to the contest with a win and loss apiece in the two games they played. Ruturaj Gaikwad continued his dominance in the IPL as he smacked back-to-back fifties in the tournament so far. Devon Conway also joined the party by contributing 47 runs in the second game. CSK after losing the first game against the defending champions, came back strong in the second game with their all-round performances from both departments, eventually defeating LSG by 12 runs after posting a humungous total of 217 at the famous MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Captain MS Dhoni smacked two big hits against the in-form Mark Wood and with that two maximums, he completed 5000 IPL runs, becoming the only fifth Indian to achieve this feat. They would look to carry the winning momentum going into the third game.
Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, come into the contest after being hammered by eight wickets against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Tilak Varma was the stand-out performer for MI in the first game as he registered his highest score both in IPL and T20s. All the bowlers were taken to the cleaners by RCB’s top orders. MI would badly need Cameron Green, who they invested a huge amount in the auction, to step up if at all they need to contest well against their opponents.
Rohit Sharma, continued his poor IPL run as he went without 50 plus score in his consecutive 22nd innings. MI would seek improved performance in both departments and would expect their heavy-weights to step up if they need to taste success in the upcoming games.
MI vs CSK Head to Head Record:
Both the teams have played 34 games against each other in which MI has been on the winning side on 20 occasions and CSK has won 14 games. In the last five IPL games, MI have won three games and CSK has tasted success two times.
