After the completion of the rain-marred three-match T20 series, which India clinched 1-0, they will face the New Zealand in a three-match one-day international series beginning on November 25at Eden Park in Auckland. The visitors are without some of the senior players like regular skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Hardik Pandya, who skippered the side in the T20Is, will also be out of action with Shikhar Dhawan set to don the captaincy hat.

Talking about the hosts, they have dropped experienced campaigners Martin Guptill and Trent Boult from the squad as destructive opener Finn Allen has been preferred over the veteran Guptill in white-ball cricket in recent times. Notably, Boult and Guptill both already released from New Zealand’s central contract. Talking about the playing XI, ODI regular Matt Henry should find a place and lead the pace attack with Tim Southee and Lockie Ferguson.

India looks set to open with captain Dhawan and Shubman Gill with Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, and Rishabh Pant in the middle-order. Speedster Umran Malik, who warmed the bench in the T20I series, might fget a chance in the ODIs. Other seam bowlers in the squad include Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, and Arshdeep Singh. Both sides now shift attention to next year’s ODI World Cup as the preparations for the global event get underway with this series.
