Yashasvi Jaiswal’s masterclass, followed by Rajasthan bowlers' clinical display with the ball saw RR defeat CSK by margin of 32 runs in match number 37 of Indian Premier League 2023 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Rajasthan have now won four consecutive games against CSK in IPL.

The hosts won the toss and opted to bat first. RR Openers got off to a flier as Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal went berserk against the likes of Chennai bowlers, adding 86 runs in the course of 8.2 overs, and Jaiswal rose to fifty off just 25 balls. Ravindra Jadeja drew the first blood by dismissing Buttler for 27 runs. Sanju Samson then partnered Jaiswal for the second wicket adding a valuable 39 runs partnership.

Tushar Deshpande struck twice in his comeback spell packing both set players- Samson and Jaiswal. Shimron Hetmyer’s short stay was undone by a beauty from Maheesh Theekshana who was brilliant with the ball. Cameos from Dhruv Jurel (34 off 15) and Devdutt Padikkal (27* off 15) helped RR post a massive total of 202/5 in 20 overs. For CSK, Deshpande picked up two wickets, but it was Theekshana who bowled a magical spell of 1/24 in his four overs.

Chasing 203, CSK got off to a decent start as Ruturaj Gaikwad kept the scoreboard ticking at one end with some good-looking shots. Adam Zampa broke the 42-run opening partnership by dismissing Devon Conway at the close of powerplay. Ajinkya Rahane then joined hands with Gaikwad as the duo added 27 runs for second wicket.

Zampa, yet again broke the partnership by sending back Gaikwad for 47. Ravichandran Ashwin soon join the celebrations as he struck twice in the 11th over by dismissing Rahane for 15 and Rayudu for a duck, as CSK were left reeling at 73/4 in 11th over.

Moeen Ali and Shivam Dube kept the chase lively by adding a quick-fire 51-run partnership, but it was Zampa yet again who came with a peach to end Moeen’s cameo. Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube showed intent at the end, but it was just to reduce the margin of defeat, as RR beat CSK by margin of 32 runs. Shivam Dube amassed 52 runs off 33 balls that included six boundaries.
