Both Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) will play their second match of the IPL 2024 at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur. RR will be playing their second consecutive game at home while this will be the second consecutive match on the road for Delhi Capitals.

Both teams are coming into this game with opposite results. At this stadium, Rajasthan Royals beat Lucknow Super Giants by 20 runs after posting 193 on the back of an unbeaten 82 by skipper Sanju Samson. Delhi Capitals on the other hand had to be carried away to a slightly below-par 173/9 against Punjab Kings who chased the total down in the last over because of a fifty by Sam Curran.

Rajasthan Royals will hope that they can go 2 wins in 2 matches and possibly go to the top of the points table. Delhi Capitals meanwhile will want to win the game and carry some hope going forward.

These two teams haven't met for a long time in IPL, their last meeting was in Match 11 of Group Stage of IPL 2024 where RR posted a mammoth 199/4 courtesy of fifties from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler and won by a massive 57 runs.

Sawai Man Singh Stadium Pitch Report

Like all stadiums in India, the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur will be slightly helpful to spin but mainly flat and offer help, especially in the second innings. The first match of IPL 2024 played here was a day game where RR posted 193/4. But in the night game on Thursday, things might be more favourable while chasing, but the flat nature is almost a given.

RR vs DC Strategies and Match-ups:

The strategy at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium should be to win the toss and bowl first in order to exploit the conditions that will be helpful to the team batting second. Thekey matchups for this contest are Ravichandran Ashwin versus David Warner, Yuzvendra Chahal versus Rishabh Pant, and Axar Patel versus Sanju Samson, respectively.

RR vs DC Player Battles to Watch Out For:

R Ashwin vs David Warner:

These two heavily experienced players have had many battles between them in all forms of the international game, especially in Test cricket where Ashwin has come out trumps. In the IPL, the battle is slightly more even. From 13 innings, David Warner has scored 119 runs at an average of 39.66 against Ashwin, but these runs have come at a partly strike rate of just 111.21. Ashwin has also had a hard time dismissing Warner having gotten him just 3 times in as many as 107 balls. This deadlock will decide the way the contest between the two teams goes.

Jos Buttler vs Anrich Nortje:

The image of Nortje getting back at Buttler by bowling a corker after getting hit for six and two fours earlier in the over in IPL 2020 remains quite fresh. But, that was the only time in 22 deliveries across 4 innings that Nortje dismissed Buttler. In these 22 deliveries, Buttler has scored 49 runs at a strike rate of 222.72

X-Factors for RR vs DC:

Rajasthan Royals:

After the sublime 82* saving RR from an early collapse, Sanju Samson will be riding high on both confidence and form coming into this game. Sanju Samson's consistency in the last few years in IPL is also something the Delhi Capitals would be wary of.

Delhi Capitals:

David Warner got off to a great start last match but could not consolidate. So he will be eager to get going on Thursday, and if he does, he will be the difference between the two sides.
