Hyderabad batter Tanmay Agarwal etched his name into the history books as he smacked the fastest-ever triple century in the history of First-Class Cricket. The 28-year-old achieved the feat against Arunachal Pradesh in the ongoing Plate game in the Ranji Trophy in Hyderabad. The opener hammered the triple ton in just 147 deliveries as he created a world record.

Previously, the record was held by Marco Marais, who achieved the landmark in 191 deliveries while playing for Border against Eastern Province in the year 2017. Speaking about the encounter, Arunachal Pradesh batted first and got bundled out for just 172 in 39.4 overs. Chama Milind and Kartikeya Kak picked up three wickets each while Tanay Thyagarajan snared two scalps.

It was all about Tanmay then and skipper Rahul Singh’s show from thereon. The former played a magnificent knock of 366 off just 181, which included 34 fours and 26 maximums at a deadly strike-rate of 202.20. Captain Rahul also joined the party as he slammed 185 off 105 with the help of 26 fours and three maximums. Notably, Hyderabad ended Day 1 at a massive total of 529/1 on the board.

Overall, a mammoth 701 runs were scored on Day 1, which is the second-most in a single day’s play in the history of first-class cricket. Andhra Pradesh-born Tanmay broke multiple records on his way to a scintillating and entertaining triple hundred. Notably, he also shared a massive 449-run opening stand with his skipper Rahul as the duo dismantled Arunachal Pradesh’s bowling line-up. In the end, Hyderabad declared their first innings at a humongous total of 615/4.
