Arguably one of the greatest personalities in the film industry, Sridevi Kapoor has passed away after suffering a massive cardiac arrest. She was with her husband Boney Kapoor in Dubai attending a family wedding. The entire world was mesmerized by the tales of her beauty and all of them are mourning the untimely loss of one of the legends of the industry.

Beginning her career as a child actor, Sridevi’s association with the film industry has lasted almost 5 decades. Her career kick-started as a child artist in M.A. Thirumugham’s devotional film Thunaivan at the age of four. After making her first senior appearance in a Telugu film named “Padaharella Vayasu”, she received great praises from the critics for her performance.

She never looked back post then and kept moving forward like a rocket. She started to act in major hindi films later as well and started to become a National fame from a South Indian superstar. Some of her movies like Chandni, Mr. India, Sadma, Himmatwala, Mawali, Tohfa etc. earned her stardom like no other actress did during her time.

Returns to the silver-screen with “English Vinglish”

After marrying Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor, Sridevi didn’t appear in any movies for a long time. The film fraternity was certainly missing the legendary personality and wanted her to come back. She did so with “English Vinglish”, playing the lead character. She acted as a quintessential Indian wife who had her share of issues with the language English and the world could do nothing but bow down.

She also received great praises for her performance in the film “Mom”. In 2013, she was voted ‘India’s Greatest Actress in 100 Years’ in a CNN-IBN national poll conducted in 2013 on the occasion of the centenary of Indian cinema. Apart from receiving 5 Filmfare awards, she was awarded India’s fourth highest civilian honor “Padmashri” in 2013.

It really was a terrible news to wake up to this Sunday morning and legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar remembered the actress as an icon. He said, “I have no words to express how I feel. We have grown up seeing her. It is difficult to digest that she is not with us. My heartiest condolences to the family.”
