Often referred to as the ‘Nawab of Najafgarh’, former Indian dashing opener Virender Sehwag turned 39 today, i.e. on 20th October. He was greeted by the Twitter world who offered him their warm wishes on the occasion. Fans and cricketers from different parts of the world joined the chorus as they gave him their best birthday wishes.

Having amassed more than 17000 runs in his international career spanning almost 14 years, Sehwag was renowned for his batting exploits in the top order. He redefined the opening role in limited overs cricket as his pinch-hitting in the early overs put the opposition in fix, every time he walked out to bat.

He went on to score 219 runs in a One Day International game against the West Indies in 2011 which remained the highest score by any cricketer till Rohit Sharma eclipsed it in 2014. He also played a major role in India’s World Cup winning campaign in 2011.

Even in the traditional format, he didn’t fail to amaze the viewers. With a batting average just under 50, Sehwag remained to be one of the rare cricketers to achieve the feat of scoring two triple centuries in Test cricket. He indeed has the fastest triple century to his name that came off just 278 balls against South Africa.

Right from one former skipper Sourav Ganguly to another former skipper Anil Kumble, everyone took turns to wish the ‘Sultan of Multan’ on his birthday. Yuvraj Singh posted a hilarious picture with Sehwag on the occasion. However, the funniest and best wish came from none other than Master Sachin Tendulkar. He made sure to wish Sehwag in his own style.

Windies great Chris Gayle also wished Sehwag who on return was termed as the Universe Boss. He also had a Q&A session with the fans with the trend #ViruDiwas. Even on his birthday, he continued to entertain the fans on social media.

Here we present to you, some of the birthday wishes Sehwag received from fellow cricketers on Twitter:
