Sana Mir, who had been a vital part of the Pakistan Women side for 15 years, called it a day on 25 April 2020. The Pakistan veteran bid adieu to international cricket and expressed her feeling through an official statement released by the PCB. Mir donned the Pakistan jersey in 120 ODIs and 106 T20Is where she scalped 151 and 89 wickets respectively. Post her retirement news, many names from the cricketing fraternity extended their wishes to Mir and paid tribute to the Mir’s contribution in women’s cricket.
Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar, who celebrated his 47th birthday yesterday on 24 April, was showered with lakhs of wishes on Twitter and Instagram. The Indian legend expressed gratitude and thanked everyone for making his birthday memorable.
IPL 2020, which has been postponed indefinitely, is being missed by every cricket fan. Rajasthan Royals’ Jofra Archer shared his batting clip on Twitter where the pacer played a crucial role with the bat to steer Royals to the victory against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Due to the coronavirus lockdown, many cricketers have shared their quarantine routine and home videos while being isolated with their families. South African stalwart Dale Steyn also shared a clip while trying his hands at cooking. He prepared a meal using pantry basics and shared the video on Twitter.
The aftermath of COVID-19 is much more complicated as it looks as the pandemic could lead to the ban of saliva and sweat in shining the ball. This has left the world in two halves as many prominent names have dished out their opinion over the same. Ashish Nehra and Harbhajan Singh have opined that saliva is a must in shining the ball and vaseline could not be used as a replacement. Cricketer-turned-commentator Ramiz Raja also feels the same.
