The cricketing trends on social media today revolved around the World Cup game between the hosts England and the Windies at The Rose Bowl in Southampton. England bowled superbly to restrict the Caribbeans for just 212 and then came out to chase the total easily with Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root leading the way. Chris Gayle was dropped by Chris Woakes early in the innings before being dismissed for 36.
In the meantime, Subramaniam Badrinath felt that dropping the Universe Boss could come back haunt England. But that wasn’t the case. During the first innings, Jason Roy and Eoin Morgan went into the change room injured and didn’t come back on the field. Lisa Sthalekar was worried about the injury concerns to the team. With England set to play Afghanistan and Sri Lanka next, the management might opt to rest both the players to get them fit for Australia, India and New Zealand clashes.
England women thrashed Windies to seal the three-match ODI series by 3-0. While Sarah Taylor and Amy Jones was the star with the bat, Fran Wilson’s catch was trending all over on Twitter. She took a sensational catch which many compared to Jonty Rhodes and the man himself lauder her for the stunning effort on the field. The two teams will now play T20I series in which the Caribbean women will hope to improve their show.
