On the back of a stunning and superlative performance right through tournament, India Under-19 team led by their skipper Prithvi Shaw have emerged as the champions side to clinch the U19 World Cup title in New Zealand. The junior team secured an incredible victory in the final match defeating Australia in a pretty handsome manner by 8-wickets. India’s opening batsman Manjot Kalra was the star performer of the win with his scintillating and unbeaten hundred that guided the team torwards the prestigious title.
Bowlers up for it yet again
The Indian bowlers surely put up a commendable show throughout the tournament and were at their job for one last time. They restricted the Aussies to 216 runs on a good batting surface and never allowed any of the opposition batters to gain control of the innings.
The fast bowlers Ishan Porel, Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi did their job perfectly, while they got great support from the slow bowlers, Shiva Singh and Anukul Roy, who picked up two wickets each. Like the rest of the games in the competition so far, the Indian bowling attack once again did well to restrict the opposition to a decent score, which allowed the batsmen to go out there and express themselves without the pressure of the scoring rate.
Kalra steals the show with a remarkable hundred
The Indian innings was halted for some time due to rain, but the Indian opener Prithvi Shaw and Manjot Kalra engulfed all the pressure and gave a blistering start to the Indian team, as the duo added 71 runs for the opening wicket and also provided their team a strong foundation at the top, which is very important in a crucial game like this.
It was Kalra who totally ruled the finale with a remarkable century and never lost his calm at any pointin the chase. The rest of the batsmen also played a great supporting role besides Manjot, Harvik Desai stayed there till the end scoring an unbeaten 47 as India defeated the Aussies with 11 overs to spare and the boys got hold of the coveted trophy.
The whole cricketing world and B-Town along with the commoners were absolutely elated to witness the evolution of the India Under-19 team in their victorious campaign.
