Veteran Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh recently released his own music video, which featured an honorable tribute to the iconic freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. The memorable song appeals to the modern generation people to follow the same footsteps and principles which were worked by the Late Indian Freedom-fighter and the people should be fighting rightfully for their interest. This musical track by Harbhajan Singh comes under the album name ‘Ek Suneha Part 2’, which also relates to other social and cultural factors which are still haunting and evacuating Punjab, which also happens to be the cricketer’s hometown.

Bhagat Singh was an Indian socialist revolutionary whose two acts of dramatic violence against the British in India and execution at age 23 made him a folk hero of the Indian Independence movement. He still remains a significant figure in Indian iconography to the present day. His memory, however, defies categorization and presents problems for various groups that might try to appropriate it. Harbhajan has delivered this tributary song in his local language, Punjabi, to give the track a perfect traditional edge, which would tend to excite the real-time followers of Bhagat Singh.

Bhagat Singh wanted to live in the character of every youth: Harbhajan

During a recent release event of the album, Harbhajan’s wife Geeta Basra also highlighted the different set of issues which are highly damaging the whole society and eventually leaving adverse effects on the day-to-day lives. Like her husband, the Bollywood actress also appealed the public to invoke a Bhagat Singh like figure in each of themselves to get complete freedom from the slavery of our own wrongdoings.

“We are consciously and subconsciously damaging our society in our day to day lives. So grave is the damage that we need to invoke a Bhagat Singh in each one of us to get us free from the slavery of our own wrongdoings. Sardar Bhagat Singh had sacrificed his life for our freedom,” said Geeta during one of the events as quoted by Times Now.

In one of the lines of his song Harbhajan quotes, “Bhagat Singh didn’t want to get printed on notes but wanted to live in the character of every youth.” By these powerful lines, the cricketer means that the current generation needs to fight for their respective rights and self-respect in this harsh world all by their self. The off-spinner in his song also highlighted the current state of the rivers in Punjab and wants the people to take good care of them.

Harbhajan’s fellow cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina and several others also showered load of appreciable wishes on Harbhajan for his stunning musical number rendering tribute to Bhagat Singh.
