The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) classifies its central contracts into four broad categories- A+, A, B, and C. More particularly, the yearly remuneration varies for each category. In 2023, the BCCI allotted central contracts to a total of 43 cricketers, comprising 26 men and 17 women.
Among the cricketers in the esteemed A+ category were India's regular captain, Rohit Sharma, along with Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja. Surprisingly, no female players were included in this top-notch category. The Grade A category featured five male players. Meanwhile, the Grade A in the women's category featured captain Harmanpreet Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, and an accomplished all-rounder Deepti Sharma.
As the BCCI prepares to unveil the updated player contracts for 2024, it's worth revisiting the specifics of the previous year's contract allocations.
