Lucknow Super Giants had a debut season to remember, as they won nine out fourteen games and were placed third on the points table despite sharing equal number of wins with Rajasthan Royals, due to a marginally lesser net run-rate.
They failed to go past the Eliminator as they lost to RCB by a close margin of 14 runs. KL Rahul enjoyed the 2022 season, being the second leading run-getter in the tournament. He, along with Quinton de Kock, registered a world-record 210 runs partnership for the first-wicket in Match 66 against KKR in IPL 2022. LSG managed to sneak into the playoffs in 2023 but missed the bus in 2024. LSG have signed Rishabh Pant as their skipper in 2025.
Chennai Super Kings will seek to improve on what they did last year. The Yellow Brigade led by new skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad narrowly missed out on the playoffs in 2024 courtsey their net run rate. They made some moves in the auctions bringing back local hero R Ashwin. In 2025, they finished at the bottom of the points table and will look to bounce back in the new season.

In matches between the two teams, Ruturaj Gaikwad leads the run chart with 183 runs and is closely followed by Marcus Stoinis (159) and KL Rahul (158). Ravi Bishnoi took eight wickets while Matheesha Pathirana holds the second spot with seven in his hand.
