Bangladesh made one of the greatest comebacks in the ODI cricket to defeat New Zealand and to stay alive in the Champions Trophy 2017. From reeling at 33/4 chasing 266, Bangladesh were rescued by Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah. The pair kept the required run rate in check and played their strokes and the team to a famous win.

They put on 224 runs for the 5th wicket, the maiden double century stand for Bangladesh in ODI cricket. Shakib was dismissed for 114 when they needed 9 runs but Mahmudullah brought up his century and guided his side to a 5-wicket win at Cardiff, the same venue where they defeated the then world no.1 Australia by the same margin.
