Team India has suffered a major blow ahead of their first warm-up game against New Zealand. Veteran Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh has been ruled out of the fixture. Yuvraj was reportedly down with fever which will see him miss out on the key game. The warm-up fixtures certainly hold paramount importance for the team for the reason that the team would want to set their permutations and combinations right before the tournament proper.

Earlier on Friday, team India had a rigorous practice session at Lord’s. All players of the Indian squad participated in the session. There was one man missing in the nets and that was Yuvraj Singh. It was just then when the questions over his fitness and availability started to be on the rise. Earlier, there were speculations about Yuvraj Singh likely to be ruled out from the game.

Now, as per the social media updates of The Indian Express, the star player has been ruled out of the match. In their tweet, they wrote, “JUST IN: Yuvraj Singh to miss the first #CT17 warm-up against new Zealand due to viral fever.”

Recent form

Yuvraj had made his comeback to the Indian colors in the ODI format in the England series earlier this year. In one of the fixtures at Cuttack, he had smashed his first ever 150 in the format of the game. Talking about his most recent form, he played a few decent cameos for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL but was troubled by injuries throughout the season.

Team India are set to lock horns with the black caps at the Kennington Oval in London in the warm-up match on May 28. The Indian team will be heading into the game after seeing all their players being involved in the Indian Premier League in the recent times. India’s previous ODI assignment was back January 2017 when they had hosted the English side for a short 3-match ODI series.
