The entire cricketing fraternity was hoping to see Dale Steyn back in action in the ongoing Test series, but unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Steyn is still recovering from his injuries and is yet to regain full fitness. Whilst this series was supposed to be remembered for Morne Morkel, who will be retiring after the 4th Test, but another controversy hogged all the limelight.

Steve Smith, David Warner, and Cameron Bancroft were handed heavy bans by Cricket Australia after the trio confessed their involvement in the scandalous Ball-tampering fiasco. The incident took place during the 3rd Test at Cape Town and sparked a severe outrage in the entire cricketing fraternity. Steyn has been tweeting profusely about the topic ever since the cameramen spotted the sandpaper slipping into Bancroft’s pants and he voiced his opinion on the decision taken by CA.

As his tweet suggests, he was palpably startled with the severe punishment slapped by the CA. This incident even made the Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull speak up and called it a disgraceful day in their country’s history. A lot of external pressure played a crucial role in the trio getting penalized so discordantly.

The incident at the Airport was unnecessary: Steyn

Another incident that hogged a lot of limelight was the way Smith was being dragged out of the Airport in Johannesburg. A lot of cricketers like Kevin Pietersen tweeted their frustration suggesting Smith was no criminal to be treated that way. Steyn too said the same thing and termed the entire incident at the airport as “S*it”.

An emotional Steve Smith broke down whilst speaking to the press in Sydney. Cameron Bancroft too had confessed that he let his country down with that shameful act and Warner tweeted his sorrow and claimed full responsibility for the incident. It really was a painful day for the Australian cricketing fraternity.

“YOH those bans are heavy. It’s just, well, it’s, WOW. That’s life changing stuff. That shit at the airport looked totally unnecessary though,” wrote Steyn on his official Twitter handle.
