Daren Sammy reveals why RCB is yet to win an IPL trophy in 13 years

The eliminator of the IPL 2020 got underway between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Once again, the trophy was not meant for RCB as they crashed out of the tournament after bearing a heartbreaking loss against SRH. Virat Kohli led RCB landed in the playoffs after four long years, and their dream of bagging the maiden title this year shattered in pieces. They failed to perform with both bat and ball against David Warner and company.

Batting first, RCB posted an underwhelming 131 on the board, and AB de Villiers was again the only one who shouldered responsibilities for the team. Along with skipper Virat Kohli, other batsmen also failed to make a mark against SRH bowlers. Jason Holder picked three important wickets to cease the run flow of RCB well in time. The rest of the job was done by T Natarajan, who spilled water on the only hope of RCB when he dismissed AB de Villiers with an impressive yorker.

It is a known fact that RCB’s bowling has also been an issue for them. They always struggle in hands of their bowlers as they fail to perform consistently. However, it was a bit better this year, but a lot has to be done before they show up for their next season. In the same light, Caribbean all-rounder Daren Sammy opened on his thoughts for RCB. He advised them to work in their bowling section as batsmen are good enough for winning the game, but only bowlers help you win the tournaments.

Talking about RCB’s bowling performance this year, Yuzvendra Chahal was the only man who performed consistently. He got wickets for the team in almost every game and marked his name in the top five wicket-takers of the season. All the other bowlers showed hot and cold form for the team. Even young pace sensation Navdeep Saini struggled to get the desired number of wickets under his belt.
