Australian opener David Warner has been rested for the three-match ODI series vs New Zealand cricket team. He has been at his very best for the Aussies across formats and being a part of the Aussie squad which will tour India to play Test and T20I matches in the month of February-March it is best if Warner gets some well-deserved rest.

“We’re running ragged in the outfield … we’re giving everything we can, and I’ve run as hard as I can for every ball,” the 30-year-old told reporters after winning two back-to-back Allan Border medals. Previously only Ricky Ponting, Shane Watson, and Michael Clarke had claimed consecutive double in the 16-year history of the award. Warner scored 2,420 runs in total across all three formats

“So that does take its toll, I’m grateful that you know Cricket Australia allowing me to get over some little niggles and having a little bit of rest at home to get me ready for India and there’s no excuses there” he added.

“We are going to be working our backsides off physically and mentally as well before we even think about playing the game of cricket (in India),” the vice-captain said.

“That’s what gets you mentally tough and ready for those conditions. It’s not the wicket it’s not the opposition, the conditions. “You’ve got the heat. Players that have been in India know how hard it is just to overcome that let alone the cricket itself. You’ve got to acclimatize.”

Warner smashed the fastest Test half-century by an Australian against Pakistan during the Test series. He registered two consecutive hundreds in the same series. Australia

Apart from Warner, Usman Khawaja too will be preparing for the India series and won’t be taking part in the limited-overs series against the Kiwi’s. New Zealand won’t mind that, as this might prove to be a good chance for them to get their hands on the Trans-Tasman silverware, with both the red-hot batters snoozing off.
