Dean Jones has some serious suggestions to improvise BBL

Former Australian cricketer Dean Jones is fondly known as ‘Prof Deano’ in the cricketing circles. He has got this nickname for his deep insightful thinking in the game. In his recent social media update, the former cricketer has come up with some serious suggestions to improve the quality of popular Australiann T20 league, the Big Bash League. The Big Bash League is being played for more than half a decade now.

Dean Jones believes that the tournament can get bigger and better if they make some administrative changes at the way how the players are drafted in to the sides. When it comes to the T20 leagues, different tournaments have their own protocols to choose the players. For instance, in the IPL, the most popular T20 league, the franchise owners are given a purse of a specific amount.

The names of the players come up at the auctions and the owners bid for them. In some other T20 leagues, the drafts and the price of the players are fixed. The owenrs bid for the players they want as per the amount they have in their wallets. In the BBL, the existing way of selecting the player drafts is not pleasing Dean Jones. He feels that the BBL needs to have a draft in place since the current system of the teams signing the players by approaching them is not working well.

Furthermore, he feels that the Australian cricket board needs to put in some more cash in to the tournament to attract the bigger players in the competition. Currently, the teams in BBL approach the players and if there is a mutual agreement between the player and the team, a deal is signed. In this scenario, who all approach a specific player and where does a specific player move in the entire process, is left untracked altogether.

Dean Jones feels that this situation where the teams have no idea about the player movements is totally not helping the cause of the teams. In other news related to the BBL, the Sydney Sixers are eyeing a contract for AB de Villiers in the upcoming season.
