Cricket, like any other sport, is an ultimate reflection of life! It tests your patience, perseverance, talent, temperament and most importantly your character to its hilt. It can bring you down from the zenith of stardom to nadir of obscurity in a matter of seconds. Cricket is an ultimate example of the fact that talent counts for far-far less in the long run. It can open the first door, it can open the second door, but it will never open the final door.

And, as we have seen on a plethora of occasions in the past, far too many prodigiously talented cricketers fell into obscurity. The prime reason for it is these players who are immensely talented had never encountered a hurdle in their growing up days; their talent always bailed them out against lesser-skilled boys. But, the moment they burst onto the international scene, they were dished up uncomfortable questions from their equally talented counterparts, something they were completed inept in handling.

Failure does funny things to you and if you don’t have the attitude to deal with it, the only way is- Down. As the Syed Mushtaq Ali progressed, all eyes were on how Prithvi Shaw- the precariously talented Indian teenage sensation- would react following his comeback to active cricket. Shaw was making a return after having served a backdated suspension for taking a banned substance earlier this year. And, now Virat Kohli’s special message on his bat during his whirlwind half-century against Punjab is garnering everyone’s attention.

Virat Kohli’s special message for Prithvi Shaw

Leading into his comeback, Shaw had said that he would let the bat do the talking. And, by god! Didn’t he do that with aplomb? In what can be termed as a hugely successful comeback, Shaw’s scores following his return read: 50* off 24, 30 off 17, 64 off 39, 30 off 19 and 53 off 27 balls.

That 53 off 27 balls from the Mumbai teenage sensation came against his sides’ final Super League-B encounter against Punjab. With Mumbai needing a comprehensive win to overhaul the Net run-rate of Karnataka, Shaw knew he had to give his side a whirlwind stand. And, he did just that. Shaw bludgeoned the Punjab bowling attack to all corners of Surat to the tune of 53 off 27. Apart from all strokes that he stroked, one thing that caught the eye of everyone was an autograph from a certain Virat Kohli with a special message on his MRF bat.
