Delhi Daredevils not out of the reckoning for playoffs yet

A lot of permutations and combinations put to work, we may still get to see Delhi Daredevils in the playoffs. While it still seems like a distant reality, the game of cricket is bound to surprise and shock you. Hence, it would be unfair to write off Delhi already.

The calculations are such that Delhi Daredevils will have to obviously win their remaining three games. However, with their poor NRR, there’s no doubt they’ll require some outstanding victories. Their next few games are against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.

Sun Risers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings are at the top two positions at the points table. They’re expected to win all their remaining games. Kings XI Punjab should lose all their games against Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The points game for the Daredevils

They also require MI and KKR to lose their other games in order to stay still at 12 points alongside Kings XI Punjab. They will also expect RCB to be victorious in their clash against Rajasthan Royals which will keep them too at 10 points.

If such a situation permits, there will be a number of teams tied at 12 points. Hence the NRR will come into existence and determine the fate of the teams. While it is a long scenario and seems highly unlikely, Delhi Daredevils can keep praying for a miracle to be bestowed on them. This tournament has already seen various twists and turns, you never know.

While the youngsters like Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer have displayed sensational form this season, the form of the overseas cricketers has been poor. Even the bowling has failed to completely step up at times and disappointed them. Earlier, Gautam Gambhir quit captaincy midway following poor results and was subsequently dropped from the playing XI.
