The ongoing third Test between India and Australia at Sydney Cricket Ground took a nasty turn as the things not related to the game of cricket took the centre stage. All the controversy started during the third day’s play at Sydney as the Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj had to bear the brunt of a few drunk Australian supporters when he was fielding.

Even Jasprit Bumrah had to face the wrath of the crowd as the two pacers complained of hearing severe racial abuses from some drunk Australian supporters. India’s stand-in captain had reported about this ugly incident to the officials and had termed it ‘insulting’. However, this didn’t stop the Australian fans from creating a nuisance during the game.

It was reported that during the fourth day of the Sydney Test, the situation took a turn for the worse as Siraj went up to the umpires and again complained of racial slurs being thrown at him. The crowd again hurled some nasty slang at Siraj and Bumrah to abuse them and play with their minds.

This ugly episode invited criticism from all over the globe as the cricket analysts, pundits, veteran players, and fans took to social media to express their displeasure and slam the people for disrespecting the visiting nation. In the same light, Cricket Australia (CA) also issued an official statement to condemn the happenings and ensured that a proper investigation will be carried out.

The former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan also gave a harsh reaction to the whole episode as he said in blunt words that the fans who can’t respect the players present on the match field should not come to the stadium. “If you are not respecting players on the field then don’t come to the stadium… #Ausvsindia” Irfan tweeted.

Australia favourites to win the third Test

After losing the second game by 8 wickets at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Australia bounced back stronger in Sydney as they completely dominated the visiting nation with their disciplined batting and bowling. The Day 4 of the Sydney Test saw the hosts declaring their second innings at a massive score of 312 runs on the back of remarkable knocks by Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne of 81 and 73 runs respectively.

As far India is concerned, before the sunset, they lost both their opening batters at a score of 92. Rohit Sharma went back to the pavilion after registering a disciplined half-century while Shubman Gill added 31 runs to the scoreboard.
