Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) can be in trouble due to the absence of local players in their squad. Hyderabad can be considered as one of the most settled and sought-after teams of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as they had gone in the IPL auction, hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India on February 18 in Chennai, for the upcoming 14th edition of the T20 Extravaganza after releasing their extra baggage in the form of just 5 players.

The Orange Army was majorly quiet in the IPL auction and with a lesser amount of purse balance under their belt, they picked just three players including Jagadeesha Suchith, Kedar Jadhav and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. While the team-management managed to seal some stellar deals at a good price, they managed to upset a political party of Hyderabad.

MLA of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and former minister Danam Nagender lashed out at IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad for not including any local cricketer from the city in their squad and threatened the team and the authorities that they won’t allow any IPL matches to be hosted at Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad if SRH do not include any player from Hyderabad city in the team.

The political leader also lambasted the team saying that they should remove the name Hyderabad from the name of their franchise if they aren’t willing to include cricketers that actually represent the city.

“Either they should select players from our city or remove Hyderabad from the team name,” he said to Hans Media.

There are many talented players in Hyderabad: Danam Nagender

Further Danam Nagender showed his displeasure on the absence of any cricketer from Hyderabad in the IPL auction conducted on Thursday, February 18 saying that the team selections should have included cricketers from the city as Hyderabad boasts of nurturing many talented and young lads.

In the same light, the former minister asserted that Australia’s aggressive opening batsman David Warner is not capable of leading the Orange Army. Notably, it was under the leadership of Warner that SRH went on to win their maiden IPL title in 2016.

“There are many talented players in Hyderabad and it is not a good thing to not get them into the team,” the politician added.
