Elan Group gifts MS Dhoni a luxury apartment

Real estate developer Elan Group has gifted a very expensive and lavish apartment to former Indian national team captain MS Dhoni. The company’s chairman Rakesh Kapoor said that this was their way of paying him a small tribute for his contribution to Indian cricket.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is often referred to as the most successful captain India ever had. He has won nearly everything for the country. His first ICC tournament success as a captain was in the first edition of the T20 World Cup. He led a young team to the triumph in the World T20 in 2007. That witnessed the birth of a new generation in Indian cricket.

Ever since he has won innumerable trophies in the Blue jersey. World Cup 2011 and Champions Trophy 2013 trophies shine brightly in India’s trophy cabinet, which were won under his leadership. But age has probably taken a toll on him, as his form has taken a downhill gradient in the recent months. Eventually, he decided to quit captaincy and hand over the reigns to the man of the moment Virat Kohli.

Dhoni has won 2 Indian Premier league (IPL) titles for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). But his current team, Rising Pune Supergiant, decided to have a ‘younger’ captain who could bring more energy to the team. The news of Pune opting for a different captain fell like hammer blows for many. But Elan Group’s chairman Rakesh Kapoor decided to pay him a tribute by gifting him the apartment worth Rs 1.5 crores.

“His unparallelled service and contribution towards Indian cricket is commendable. May he keep on inspiring the young generation for years to come,” Kapoor said. The size of the apartment is 1,000 square feet. The company announced that it now wants to make dedicated cricket themed floor in Elan miracle.

Recently, Dhoni received another precious gift. He got one acre of land from Lal Gopal Sharan Nath Shahdeo. It was gifted so that Dhoni can build a farmhouse on his hometown in Kanthitar, to spend some free time there away from the hustle and bustle, after retirement. Every time Dhoni visits Kanthitar, he spends time supervising the work of his under-construction farmhouse.

A close associate of the former Indian captain revealed that the farmhouse will have every kind of luxury, from swimming pool to a state-of-an-art gymnasium. He further revealed that at least half of the work is already done.
