BCCI selection committee announced the replacements for the injured bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Washington Sundar for the upcoming three-match T20I series against England. CSK pacer Deepak Chahar will take the place of Bumrah whereas Krunal Pandya is set to replace Sundar in T20Is and Axar Patel to occupy that place in ODIs.

While stopping the ball on the final ball of his spell against Ireland in the first T20I, Jasprit Bumrah injured his left thumb. He later took the scans and the injured thumb resulted in a fracture. He wasn’t a part of the second T20I that India won by a huge margin of 143 runs. Washington Sundar has been ruled out of limited-overs series due to an ankle injury.

Deepak Chahar was very crucial in CSK’s successful outing in the recently concluded IPL season as he bowled very brilliantly and picked crucial wickets in powerplay overs. On the other hand, Krunal Pandya was very impressive with both bat and ball in the Indian Premier League as he was awaiting a chance to don the blue jersey and the moment is just a few hours away. Krunal represented Mumbai Indians in 14 matches in IPL 2018 and picked 12 wickets and added 228 runs with the willow. With a batting strike-rate of 145, the 27-year-old is a brilliant addition to the Indian middle-order.

The Mumbai Indians middle-order batsman was excited after hearing the news of his maiden national call-up. He took to Twitter to express his delight. He tweeted that his hard work paid off and he had worked very hard for the call-up and is feeling blessed to take up the honour. His tweet read, “Really honored to be picked to represent India in the upcoming T20Is. It’s something I’ve worked hard for and I feel blessed. #HardWorkPaysOff #ENGvIND”
