Former India batter Wasim Jaffer, who is known for his great sense of humour and hilarious memes, sees the funny side of how the Test match between England and India in Edgbaston, Birmingham, is progressing. England, with a challenging target of 378 in hand, were off to a flyer in their second innings, and Jaffer could not help but show his thoughts on batting conditions that appear to have gone easy.

At the start of the England innings, the sun was glowing, which can reduce the ball swing, and the wicket looked more ideal for batting. Jaffer posted a picture from the movie ‘Khatta Meetha’, showing actors Akshay Kumar and Johnny Lever in a heavy roller that is used for making roads. The roller is also used in cricket grounds to flatten the wicket, which makes batting easier. Jaffer apparently meant that the groundsmen used a heavy roller during the innings break to help the hosts.

England openers add 100 runs for the first wicket

Meanwhile, England openers started the chase strongly as openers Alex Lees and Zak Crawley put on 107 runs for the first wicket within 22 overs. Crawley was the first one to be dismissed after scoring 46 runs off 76 balls, as he was castled by skipper Jasprit Bumrah with a ball that nipped back into the off-stump sharply.

Ollie Pope was dismissed for a naught in three balls by the Indian skipper immediately after the tea break as he outside-edged a ball that was straightening into the fourth stump line. Alex Lees was the next one to follow to the pavilion, after scoring 56 runs off 65 balls. He had to depart after an unfortunate run-out in the middle, involving Joe Root on the other end.

Earlier in the day, Cheteshwar Pujara got out after scoring a well-made 66 runs off 168 balls to pacer Stuart Broad, getting caught at point. Rishabh Pant scored 57 runs off 86 balls, before falling prey to spinner Jack Leach, getting caught in the slip by Joe Root, after failing to middle the ball off a reverse-sweep. India were dismissed for 245 in 81.5 overs, courtesy of some hostile bowling in the end by skipper Ben Stokes and Matthew Potts.
