India U19s began their tour of England with a huge win in the first match of the 2-Youth Test series. Facing the home side England U19s, the Indians posted a huge total of 519 runs after being put into bat which placed the visitors in a commanding position. Pacer Kamlesh Nagarkoti bagged 5 wickets each in both the innings to help India bowl out the opposition for 195 in the first innings and 163 in the 2nd innings while defending a target of 498.

10/112 – Kamlesh Nagarkoti’s match figures are the 6th best by an Indian in Youth Tests. His 10-wicket match haul is only the 9th for India in this format and the first one since Shabhaz Nadeem’s effort in 2005.

11 – Number of players including Nagarkoti who have taken 10 or more wickets on their Youth Test debut. He is the 4th player from India to bag a 10-wicket match haul on debut in this format. His match figures of 10/112 are the 7th best among the 11.

13 – Number of Indian players including Prithvi Shaw and Riyan Parag who scored fifties in both the innings in Youth Tests. Both were making their debuts in this game. S Sharath in 1992 and Mayank Agarwal in 2009 are the only Indians who have managed to score twin fifties on Youth Test debut before Shaw and Riyan.

33 – Balls Riyan Parag took for his fifty in the 2nd innings; the 2nd fastest known fifty in Youth Tests. The fastest known fifty in Youth Tests is registered with Virat Kohli who took 32 balls vs Sri Lanka in 2007.

334 – India’s margin of win in this game is the biggest in terms of run in Youth Test matches. The previous biggest winning margin in terms of runs in this format is by 293 also registered by Team India which was also against England in 2005. In fact, the top 5 biggest margin in the Youth Tests are recorded by the Indians with three of them against England.

519 – India’s first innings total of 519 is their 3rd highest total in Youth Tests and only the 4th 500+ total by them in the format. India’s highest total in Youth Tests is 611/9 dec vs Pakistan in 2006.

2009 – Last time before this game India won a Youth Test was way back in 2009 vs Australia. India lost to Australia in the following game and the 4 Tests they played after that ended in a draw.
