Having lost the fifth rescheduled Test, India made a comeback to defeat the English side by a 2-1 margin in the T20I series. Full-time skipper Rohit Sharma returned after having missed the Test due to COVID-19 and led the team to victories in the first and the second matches. The action now moves to the One-Day internationals where both the teams will compete in a three-match series beginning on July 12, 2022, at the Kennington Oval in London. The remaining matches will take place on the 14th and 17th at Lord’s and Old Trafford respectively.

Speaking of the T20Is, Suryakumar Yadav looked in great touch for the visitors as he smashed the most runs in the series. The impressive right-handed batter amassed 171 runs in three innings at an average of 57.00 and a strike rate of 201.17. In the bowling department, Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up four wickets in two matches at a staggering average of 6.25 and an economy rate of 4.16, which also won him the Player of the Series award. England’s new white-ball skipper Jos Buttler managed only 22 runs while his opening partner Jason Roy mustered just 31 runs, which would worry the hosts going into the 50-overs games.

Talking about the selections, the tourists have added ODI regular Shikhar Dhawan to their side. Among the bowlers, Mohammed Shami, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Arshdeep Singh are also back in the mix. Fresh from the memorable Test victory, Ben Stokes, Joe Root, and Jonny Bairstow are back for the already dangerous-looking England team. India’s last ODI assignment came against the West Indies earlier this year when they defeated them 3-0 at home. England also won by the same margin against the Netherlands away from home last month. This match will be Buttler’s first ODI after his appointment as the full-time skipper of England.
