The Lord’s Test between England and India finally got underway on the 2nd day amidst the gloomy weather after which the England pacers rolled over the Indian batsmen to bundle them out for just 107 after winning the toss. Virat Kohli’s wicket worsened things for Indians as only two batsmen crossed 20. Ravichandran Ashwin top scored with 29 while the Indian skipper made 23. James Anderson was the key destroyer of the Indian batting as he finished with figures of 5/20 in his 13.2 overs.

2 – Second time in three Test matches that England have featured in a Test match with two players aged less than 21 in the playing XI. They had Sam Curran and Dominic Bess in the XI when they faced Pakistan in the Leeds Test this year. In their first 998 Test matches, England never had more than one player aged less than 21.
3 – Number of 5-wicket hauls that James Anderson has taken in Test cricket conceding as few as 20 runs. Muttiah Muralitharan is the only other bowler to take three 5-fers conceding 20 or fewer runs in Test cricket.
4 – Ravichandran Ashwin completed 3000 runs in international cricket when he was on 16. He is now the 4th Indian with 3000+ runs and 500+ wickets in international cricket after Kapil Dev, Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh.
7 – Cheteshwar Pujara has been dismissed seven times via runout in his Test career; no other player has been dismissed more than five times since his debut.
7 – Pujara’s seven runout dismissals in Test cricket are the joint 3rd most in Test cricket among Indians. He is only the 4th Indian to be dismissed runout as many as three times in a calendar year in Test cricket.
21 – Number of 5-wicket-haul for James Anderson at home in Test cricket. Only Muttiah Muralitharan (45), Rangana Herath (26) and Anil Kumble (25) took more 5-fers at home than Anderson.
95 – James Anderson now has taken 95 wickets in Test cricket against India which is the most by any pacer, surpassing Imran Khan’s 94 wickets. Only Muttiah Muralitharan (105) has taken more wickets than Anderson in the Tests against India.
107 – India’s total of 107 in this Test match is their lowest away total since getting bowled out for 94 in the Oval Test against England in 2014. India made as low as 107 only on three occasions in the longer format in these four years. Australia bowled India out for 105 and 107 respectively in the Pune Test in 2017.
353 – James Anderson’s 353 wickets in England are the 2nd most for any player in Test cricket at home. Only Muttiah Muralitharan (493) has taken more wickets at home in the longer format than Anderson.
