Jasprit Bumrah stole all the limelight as India’s speedster surprised each and everyone with his batting skills on Day two of the fifth and final Test. Skipper Bumrah smacked 29 runs off his bat against Stuart Broad, with the England pacer leaking a total of 35 runs in an over including six extras. With this, Broad registered an unwanted record for himself of conceding the most runs in an over in the history of Test cricket. Indian captain smashed four fours, two maximums, and took a single in six deliveries which also included five wides and a no-ball. Ravindra Jadeja, continuing from his overnight score of 83*, brought up his third century in Test cricket.

Speaking of how the second day unfolded, Jadeja reached his hundred before getting out to James Anderson for 104. Shardul Thakur made just one run while Mohammed Shami amassed 16 runs with Broad dismissing him to reach the landmark of 550 wickets in Tests. He became only the third pacer after Anderson (656) and Glenn McGrath (563) to grab the feat. Bumrah then went ‘Boom Boom’ to spoil Broad’s achievement. England seamer became the first bowler to leak most runs in an over both in Tests and T20Is. The visitors got bundled out for 416 with veteran Anderson picking up a five-wicket haul.

Bumrah was not done yet as he then got rid of England’s top three batters. Alex Lees made six while his opening partner Zak Crawley’s struggle in the whites continued as he managed to score only nine runs. batter Ollie Pope became the third victim for India’s skipper as the hosts found themselves in trouble at 44/3. England’s Mr.consistent Joe Root came out to bat at no. four and amassed 31 before Mohammed Siraj got the big fish in the last half an hour of play.

England sent Jack Leach as the nightwatchman but he couldn’t survive and bagged a five-ball duck to get dismissed to Shami. In-form batter Jonny Bairstow and skipper Ben Stokes remained unbeaten on 12 and zero respectively. With England five down at the score of 84 and no. one batter in the ICC Test rankings, Root back in the pavilion, the tourists dominated yet another day of the decider Test.
