The Indian Test squad for their upcoming five-match Test series against England has recently been announced. The first Test will be played on August 1 at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Last time around in 2014, India lost the Test series 3-1 after winning the second match at Lord’s. Meanwhile, the team has been jolted with a massive blow as Bhuvneshwar Kumar didn’t find a spot in the squad.

His back-injury has increased owing to which the step was taken. He is suffering from the injury and the same has been a major thorn in the flesh in recent times. He couldn’t play a few matches in the IPL after which he had to sit out for the final and the deciding T20I against England at County Ground in Bristol. Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) updated about his injury.

“Bhuvneshwar aggravated a lower back condition in the 3rd ODI against England. His condition is being assessed and a call on him will be “made soon,” the BCCI was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

India’s disappointing ODI series

Recently, India played a three-match ODI series and lost the same by 2-1. The team, captained by Virat Kohli, won the first match at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Kuldeep Yadav and Rohit Sharma helped the Men in Blue scrip the triumph. In the second match at Lord’s Joe Root’s 12th ODI century helped England draw level in the three-match series.

The Brits replicated their form in the final ODI at Headingley in Leeds as well. The bowlers restricted Virat’s men to a modest score after which Root accomplished his 13th ton in the 50-overs format. He had skipper Eoin Morgan at the other end en route his team’s triumph. India, on the contrary, would be hoping to park the disappointment aside and take the field in the Tests with a refreshed outlook.
