Pakistan’s tour of England this year has been overshadowed by rain. Like every second half of the English summer, the rain has played spoilsport. The scoreline of 1-0 in Tests doesn’t justify the potential this Pakistani team has and the same was seen in the 1st T20I as well. The 2nd T20I will be played in at The Old Trafford, Manchester on Sunday and with same conditions, Pakistan is expected to finally find victory if rain allows a complete game.

The Three Lions will be quite happy with the way Tom Banton presented his great skills with the bat. He is believed to be the one for the future and the right-hander should carry his form in the second T20I as well.

Though Captain Eoin Morgan will be very worried about the way their batting went. They will be looking to change the way they planned the game in the first clash and more responsibility would be expected out of the experienced players.

The touring party on the other side will also be having mixed feelings about their attack in the 1st clash. The opening bowlers controlled the run flow in the beginning and the spin all-rounders Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan were the shining stars for them. The Pakistani team will look to find a solution to stop the run flow in the middle overs and better performance from their death over specialist Haris Rauf is expected.

The talking point of the series is how a great batting talent, Babar Azam will captain a side in alien conditions and we had a bit of idea in the first game. Second T20I will have the ledger swinging both the sides and if Babar Azam composed himself well, Pakistan could find solace in the testing conditions. If rain allows the entire game to take place, the next clash certainly looks mouth-watering.

Pitch and Conditions

Like games in past at the Old Trafford, Manchester, the pitch is expected to help the spinners. As anticipated, the Pakistani spinners looked quite at home during the first game as well. Though with heavy showers and the covers in place, the pitch hasn’t seen much of sunlight and could retain some moisture. The ball shouldn’t come on the bat that easy with the dampness on the wicket and the outfield could remain slow as well. A total of 160 could be challenging to chase down.

Teams

Pakistan

The Pakistani team looked well balanced for the first game and with the location and conditions being same, they should field an unchanged lineup. The 3 all-rounders in the middle and the mixture of youth and experience, the team had the perfect composition.

Mohammad Amir’s comeback was quite smooth as the star bowler looked in good touch. Shaheen Afridi’s form has continued with the white-ball cricket as well. Haris Rauf looked patchy in the 1st game but the T20 specialist should retain his place in the side for the 2nd contest.

The batting looks top-heavy but with only 20 overs under the belt and an expected drizzle, the team won’t change the mixture. Skipper Azam along with Fakhar Zaman would be looking to capitalize the powerplays as they do not have a big finisher late in the order.

Predicted XI- Babar Azam (C), Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Rizwan (WK), Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Amir, Haris Rauf, Shaheen Shah Afridi.

England

The home team had a decent total on the board by the time it started pouring in the first match. The team looks balanced and the batting order is very heavy in terms of artillery. Though the only in form player was an inexperienced lad, Tom Banton, the line-up is strong on paper.

The role for David Malan and skipper Eoin Morgan should be to guide as an anchor. Moeen Ali and Sam Billings will be the finishers for them. The role of Lewis Gregory will be under the spotlight as the all-rounder is playing in place of David Willey.

The playing eleven should remain unchanged for them as well, only 16.1 overs were possible in the first game and we didn’t get to see much of any bowler. The batsmen threw away the starts the got, but they certainly should be getting another chance.

Predicted XI- Tom Banton, Jonny Bairstow (WK), Dawid Malan, Eoin Morgan (C), Sam Billings, Moeen Ali, Tom Curran, Lewis Gregory, Chris Jordan, Adil Rashid, Saqib Mahmood

Stat Attack

Shoaib Malik (9892) is 108 runs away from 10,000 T20 runs.

Mohammad Hafeez (1992) needs 8 more runs to cross 2000 T20I runs.

Mohammad Amir (49) will be completing his 50th match in T20Is in the next game.
