In Test cricket, a player gets two chances. Sometimes he makes use of the opportunity, sometimes he doesn’t. But when a cricketer fails to make use of two ‘opportunities’ in real life, then how do we define it? Recently, England fast bowler Stuart Broad got split with her girlfriend Mollie King, a singer, for the second time and it happened just two months after they came together following a brief separation.
The 32-year-old cricketer, one of England’s main fast bowlers currently, dated the 31-year-old King for five months before their break-up in September and reconciled soon. But they failed to give their second innings a longer duration. The reason for the separation has been reported to be their work commitments. While Broad is currently busy with his cricket commitments, King is currently the new host of BBC Radio 1’s weekend breakfast show, along with Matt Edmondson.
“They agreed to break up last week and the split was very amicable. They were just too busy for the relationship to work. As well as Mollie’s commitments, Stuart is always away with England and is spending the next six weeks competing in Sri Lanka,” British tabloid The Sun quoted a source as saying.
The duo came together but for a brief period
The duo reportedly had a patch-up following the England-India Test series in August-September which the hosts won convincingly. Broad took 17 wickets in the series. However, the patch-up did not last long as both the cricketer and singer got busy with their respective careers once again. Broad, who is one wicket short of equalling the Test wicket tally of Kapil Dev, however, was dropped for the first of the three Test matches in Galle.
Stuart, the son of former England cricketer Chris Broad, has 666 wickets in international cricket at the moment. He has played in 123 Tests and 121 ODIs besides 56 T20Is since making his international debut in 2006. He also has one century and 12 fifties in Tests.
Will he see him partnership with King for a third innings?
