We have seen Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh enter the record books during the first edition of ICC World T20. In the important match against England, Yuvraj took English pace spearhead Stuart Broad for a ride and smashed six sixes in six balls. Even today, that moment is cherished by the Indian cricket enthusiasts and often Broad had to receive sarcastic comments regarding the incident.
In that match, England was in the receiving end of the demolition and assault by Yuvi. But very recently, an English bowler has achieved the similar kind of feat, not with the bat but with the ball in hand. He has picked up six wickets in as many balls. It was not a big international match but a competitive match of cricket nonetheless. We have seen Pranav Dhanawade surfacing the news portals for his amazing record.
This time, the creator of the record is Luke Robinson, a 13-year old teenager who plays for Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Under-13s, based near Houghton-le-Spring, Tyne and Wear in north-east England. “It was surreal. I have been playing for 30 years and have taken hat-tricks but never anything like this. Time stood still and I thought, ‘is this really happening?” said the proud father Stephen Robinson who plays for the senior team of Philadelphia as per the quotes on AFP.
A family of cricketers
Another unique incident in this unique tale is the whereabouts of Luke’s family. His father Stephen, who is a senior cricketer, was witnessing the incident from the umpire’s position as he was chosen to be the man with the hat for the match. His mother, Helen Robinson, had a tough time managing the scoreboard as she was the scorer for the day.
Her son must have given herself a run for her job. Talking about grandpa Glenn, he was enjoying the action from the sidelines. Hence, Luke Robinson, who has entered his name in the record books, had his family with him to witness the astonishing incident.
