'Even Virat Kohli can't pull off things like Rohit Sharma does' - Virender Sehwag

Sharma, during his whirlwind knock of 85 from 43 balls was equally lethal against the fast bowlers like he was against the spinners, hitting six fours and as many sixes.

Team India came back valiantly at the Saurashtra Cricket Association stadium in Rajkot to seek parity in the ongoing three-match series against the visiting Bangladesh Tigers after having faced a seven-wicket win at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Before going into the second T20I at Rajkot, India’s outdated approach in the past few games had come under the scanner, so-much-so that current captain Rohit Sharma had alluded towards a change in approach in the crucial fixture. After what was a rare blip in the first T20I at Delhi, Sharma was at his ferocious best and in full sync with his Hitman moniker, as he shellacked the hapless Bangladeshi attack to all corners of the ground.

Virender Sehwag pays a special tribute to Rohit Sharma

Sharma, during his whirlwind knock of 85 from 43 balls was equally lethal against the fast bowlers like he was against the spinners, hitting six fours and as many sixes (three of them came in one over of Mosaddek Hossain). This was Rohit’s 100th T20I and the way he shellacked the sixes like he did, prompted the likes of former Indian opener Virender Sehwag to say that Rohit can do things which even Virat Kohli can’t.

“Hitting 3-4 sixes in a single over or scoring 80-90 runs in 45 balls is an art that I haven’t even seen Kohli pull off as regularly as Rohit. Sehwag further said that Rohit has become the kind of player Tendulkar used to be. He further asserted that certain things that he (Rohit) can do, no one else in the present times can.” said Sehwag while speaking to Cricbuzz Live.

Sehwag also went down memory lane where he revealed an anecdote of his former teammate, Sachin Tendulkar when the latter used to ask to say others that if he can score runs in a particular situation, others can too.

“Sachin used to tell others if I can do something on the field, why can’t you? But he never understood that there are only one God and the sort of things God can do, no one else can,” Sehwag said.

While Rohit was going great guns at one end, Shikhar Dhawan was having his fair share of struggles at the other end. According to Sehwag, ever since Shikhar Dhawan has been dropped from the Test team, his strike-rate has gone down and the southpaw is batting under pressure considering his spot in the T20I set-up is under immense scrutiny.
