Former India opener Akash Chopra has put forward his views on the Indian head coach selection process. The 39-year-old believes that coaching experience is the main criteria the Cricket Advisory Committee should focus on while selecting the right man for the job.

Akash, who is now and active commentator, is an active personality on Twitter and used the same to express his opinion. According to Chopra, the man who will be selected should possess the credibility to take up such a huge responsibility.

As far as the CAC are concerned the panel is looking forward to digging out someone who will bring results in favour of the team. Sourav Ganguly, who is a member of the CAC along with Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman pointed out that they are searching for someone who will win matches for the team.

Another criteria that will be taken into account is that the person must allow skipper Virat Kohli to act freely and take decisions. The board wants a smooth relation between the captain and the coach which did not happen in case of Anil Kumble.

Going by the latest reports, former Indian international and active broadcaster Ravi Shastri is ready to hand over his application for the post. The 55-year-old aims to be the coach of the team for the second time after a successful previous term. But the man suffered a similar fate as Kumble as he was released from his duties even after a glorious one year by the CAC.

But Shastri’s relation with Virat Kohli is believed to be polished and that might just work in favour of the big guy. Virender Sehwag is a strong challenger to Shastri for the position while the deadline for submitting the applications have been extended to the 9th of July by the board.
