England have somehow managed to take the third Test match against India to the fifth day. The fate of the game is already decided and the visitors are all set to make it to 2-1 in the series. It was the duo of Adil Rashid and James Anderson who faced 34 balls together for the last wicket and denied the opposition the glory moment late on the fourth day. However, Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club (CCC) has received the flak for not reducing the ticket prices for the final day as only formalities are left.
Interestingly, the game can end on the first delivery of the day itself as Anderson is on strike and was ruffled up by Jasprit Bumrah with nasty bouncers before stumps. Contrastingly, there are also 12% chance of rain which might make the excited Indians wait for the winning moment. It also remains to be seen if the crowd will even turn up to watch the game.
High ticket-pricing
Meanwhile, the official Twitter handle of Nottinghamshire CCC posted about the ticket prices soon after it was confirmed that the game has been stretched to the final day. Definitely, the Indian fans in the city would’ve planned to witness the historic victory of their team. But the prices of the tickets were not reduced by the hosts and it was very much baffling. They have kept the same prices (£10 entry fee and £5 for ‘juniors’) for the final day as well.
They had also clearly mentioned that no refund will be issued once the first ball is bowled. To the dismay of the fans, they will have to bear the loss if the last wicket falls off the very first ball of the day. No wonder that they weren’t happy with the officials of Trent Bridge and lashed out at them for not reducing the ticket prices.
Twitterati wasn’t pleased one bit and felt that they should’ve opened the gates for free given the fact there was a possibility that the match could end soon.

Here are the replies:
Aussie grounds sometimes do what they call “gold coin” entry on day 5, ie one or two dollars on the gate. In for a quid or two, buy food/drink once in. It’s one way of inviting people in when you may see little action. Might encourage curious newbies too. A ‘people’s’ atmosphere

Don’t think any grounds can sell Day 5 in advance these days. Absolutely staggered Notts CCC aren’t opening the gates for free tomorrow – given it could last one ball.

Wouldn’t it have been a good PR exercise to let anyone in for free – just a thought

If it lasts one delivery, the tenner entrance fee would equate to £5400 if you applied the same cost per ball for a full 90 over day. Just let people in for a quid, let the kids on their summer break have a knock about on the outfield and bask in the good PR. Don’t be tight.

@realsteveurry price still £10 despite only being 1 wicket left …. all the money in the game surely free admission would make sense .

Another example of everything that’s wrong with cricket in this country. @ECB_cricket completely out of touch!

So this is why Trent Bridge aren’t getting an Ashes Test. Looks a good decision now as this is so so poor.

Who the hell decides to charge £10 for a game that’s going to end after one wicket. To think the daft twat who made the decision is earning upwards of £100k a year too 🙄🤔🤦🏻♂️

Is someone having a laugh?! How can you charge fans £10 for D5 entry when @BCCI only need one wicket to win 3rd test? Missed opportunity to attract new audience & surely explains the sorry state of test cricket vs growth of T20 @IPL cricket! #ENGvIND #bbccricket #skycricket

Do I read that correctly? £10 for day 5… @ECB_cricket @TrentBridge this is not right, this is not the way to attract new fans… I realise there are things to pay for, security, stewards etc.. but surely the ECB could cover that, increased revenues from TV contracts..

Oh for goodness sake. Open the gates and let the kids in. It’s the school holiday! Does @allstarscricket mean nothing to you?
