Dambulla Aura (DA) will lock horns with Galle Titans (GT) in the first qualifier match of the Lanka Premier League 2023 at the R Premdasa Stadium in Colombo on August 17. Dambulla Aura won six out of eight league stage games and finished at the top of the table. Galle Titans, on the other hand, finished with four wins in the second position.

Dambulla Aura had played against B-Love Kandy in their last match, where B-Love Kandy won the toss and elected to field. Being put to bat, they made a solid start, and the openers looked in good touch. The middle order took the game forward well and scored at a good rate. They were able to finish with 162 runs on the board. In reply, B-Love Kandy lost two wickets early on, but Dinesh Chandimal, who came to bat in three, calmed the sea and scored a fifty. However, he did not get enough support from the other end, and the team was bowled out for the score of 142 runs and hence lost the match by 20 runs.

Galle Titans had played against Colombo Strikers in their last match, where Galle Titans won the toss and elected to field. The Strikers did not start well, losing both their openers rather cheaply. The middle-order batters did get starts, but none of them could convert those into bigger totals and kept losing their wickets. Eventually, they were bowled out at a mere total of 74 runs. Although the Titans did lose a couple of wickets early on, this total was never going to be a challenging one for them. They chased down the total easily and won the match by eight wickets.
