New Zealand faced Zimbabwe in the previous game and elected to bat after winning the toss. Tim Seifert (75 off 45) and Rachin Ravindra (63 off 39) led the team to a total of 190 runs for the loss of six wickets. Zimbabwe was bundled out for 130 runs and lost the match by 60 runs. Ish Sodhi picked four wickets for 12 runs in four overs and won the Player of the Match award.

South Africa was up against New Zealand in the previous match, where New Zealand elected to bowl after winning the toss. Reeza Hendricks and George Linde were the only batters who scored more than 20 runs for the Proteas. South Africa put a total of 134 runs for the loss of eight wickets on the board. Jacob Duffy, Adam Milne, and Mitchell Santner took two wickets each for New Zealand. New Zealand reached the target of 135 runs in 15.5 overs with the help of Seifert’s unbeaten knock of 66 runs off 48 deliveries. Seifert won the Player of the Match award.
