South Africa A played Australia A in match number 8 of the Quadrangular series at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. While the South African team was really struggling to get going in the chase of 323 runs, their number 5 batsman Farhaan Behardien got run out in a rather embarrassing manner.

It was the 26th over of the match, Behardien was facing Australia A’s, Ashton Agar. The spinner had a slip in place to keep the edges in check and though D’Arcy Short didn’t have a catch to pocket, his alertness did get the team a wicket. Behardien missed a flick and as Agar was asking the umpire if it was out leg before wicket, the batsman decided to sneak in a run.

The ball had just gone straight to Short and unaware of it the South African started off for a single. Short threw the ball at the stumps and a direct hit caught Behardien well out of the return crease. It was one of the brain fade moments for the cricketer and certainly the sort of run out he would want to get over at the earliest.

He was thus dismissed for 4 from 15 balls and left the team in a desperate position. This one immediately brings back memories of an AB de Villiers run out. The maverick South African batsman playing against Zimbabwe in 2015 tried to hit the ball on the on-side but he could just get it to hit his pads. De Villiers thought the ball had beaten the wicketkeeper and thus started off for a run.

The keeper scampered to collect the ball and AB only turned back to see what was happening when his partner Faf du Plessis remained unmoved at his end. He was halfway down the pitch by that time and there was no coming back. It was one of the most embarrassing moments of his career as well.
