Fawad Alam to play in Lancashire League in England

Fawad Alam has been a prolific run-scorer in the domestic cricket of Pakistan. The left-handed batsman has scored heaps of runs in domestic cricket for Karachi and has been a stalwart for them. However, despite notching tons of runs, he hasn’t been considered for Pakistan’s upcoming tours of Ireland and England, which has raised several eyebrows and it isn’t surprising.

Meanwhile, there’s a positive news for the left-handed batsman as he will now be plying his trade in the English domestic circuit. As per reports in PakPassion, the Karachi-born cricketer has been signed to play for the Clitheroe Cricket Club in the Lancashire League. The 32-year old has already represented them last time around and helped them to the championship glory.

The ignorance for Fawad Alam

Alam has a staggering average of 55.37 at the first-class level. The cricketer also has 27 centuries and 57 half-centuries, which telecasts his class as a batsman. The decision to exclude him sparked as a surprise as he was expected to feature in the squad especially after the retirement of Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan. In a recent interview with Ramiz Raja, Alam broke down following his exclusion.

Several cricketers have also come in support of Alam and bashed the cricket board for not considering him. The Test squads have as many as five cricketers who are yet to make their debut in Test cricket and Fawad’s presence would definitely have been a valuable addition to their squad. Alam’s record in international cricket can’t be considered as the worst by any stretch of the imagination.

He has an average of 40 in One Day Internationals and has one century and six half-centuries to his name. However, he only has played three Tests in which he averages 42 with a highest score of 168 against Sri Lanka way back in 2009. For the time being, Alam would be wishing to have an impressive outing in Lancashire’s cricket and hopefully stake his claim back in the national team.
