The historic Pink ball day-night Test between India and Bangladesh got underway today at the Eden Gardens. The visitors won the toss and opted to bat first much like they did in Indore. Unfortunately for Bangladesh though, they also got off to a similar start to their innings. India’s bowlers and some exceptional fielding from Rohit Sharma in the slip have ensured that they are left reeling early in the first innings.

It took India’s new ball almost seven overs to strike but then it was a procession. Ishant Sharma pinned Imrul Kayes in front of the stumps with just 15 runs on the board. But Rohit taking a blinder of a catch to dismiss Bangladesh skipper Mominul Haque was the talking point of the first hour of the game.

The incident took place in the 11th over of the day when Umesh Yadav was bowling. The pacer managed the good length delivery to tail back in slightly which made Mominul poke at the ball. The batsman could only edge the ball in the process and it flew to the slip where Rohit Sharma was alert.

He dived full length to grab a stunner while leaving his teammates also stunned. There was a huge uproar in the crowd as well with India’s opener plucking a brilliant catch. Mominul Haque failed to get off the mark and bagged a seven-ball duck.

India’s pacers leave Bangladesh reeling

Meanwhile, after opting to bat first, the visiting batsmen have found no answers to the Indian pacers. It took some time for Ishant and Umesh to get their lines right. But once they found it, there was no looking back for the home side. Mohammed Shami was spot on from the word go which has led to Bangladesh losing five wickets in less than 15 overs.

The crowd has responded well to the day-night Test and the Eden Gardens is jam-packed for the historic occasion. However, another one-sided contest is on the cards with India dominating all the way in this game so far.
