Former India cricketer, Yusuf Pathan, has been tested positive for Coronavirus. The cases in India are rising exponentially in a possible second wave of the virus with close to 60,000 people testing positive for COVID-19 only on March 26 alone. Maharashtra is at the centre stage of it all while testing has been ramped up in other states of the country.

As far as Yusuf Pathan is concerned, the all-rounder had retired from all forms of the game last month. However, he soon featured in the inaugural edition of the Road Safety World Series (RSWS) for India Legends led by none other than Sachin Tendulkar. Top retired players from Sri Lanka, West Indies, Bangladesh, England and South Africa featured in the tournament sending the fans on a nostalgia trip.

Yusuf Pathan himself confirmed the news of being tested positive for Coronavirus and also stated he had mild symptoms. He is in isolation at his home now and has urged the ones to get tested soon who came in contact with him.

“I’ve tested positive for COVID-19 today with mild symptoms. Post the confirmation, I have quarantined myself at home and taking all the necessary precautions and medication required. I would request those who came in contact with me to get themselves tested at the earliest,” his tweet read.

Earlier in the day, Sachin Tendulkar also tested positive for the virus and notably, both the players shared the dressing room not long ago in the RSWS 2021.

Yusuf Pathan played crucial role for India in RSWS

Featuring for India Legends, Yusuf Pathan, along with the likes of Sachin, Yuvraj and others, turned back the clock with their amazing skills on the field. Yusuf shone with his all-round skills during India’s successful campaign where they defeated Sri Lanka Legends in the final.

The 38-year-old smacked 139 runs in four innings at an impeccable average of 69.50 and a brilliant strike-rate of more than 170 delighting the crowd in Raipur. He ended as the joint second-highest wicket-taker of the tournament with nine wickets to his name and his average of 12.33 was the best only behind Monty Panesar (12.25).
