Following a 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Australia in the Test series, the Men in green has gone on to lose the ODI series as well and the team looks in all sorts of problems ahead of their upcoming tournaments against the top-ranked side. The Asian giants have been pretty lacklustre in their approach in all three departments which has affected their results. Before getting whitewashed by Australia, Pakistan was drubbed 0-2 by New Zealand.

Gone are the days when the Pakistani pacers used to intimidate the opposition batting line-up with their sheer pace and swing. They used to produce fast bowlers at will and most of them went on to represent their country successfully at the international level. The trio of Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar tormented many great batting line-ups during their heydays and even the generation which came after that offered stability in the pace department. The case has been totally different in the last few seasons with the pacers not being able to put up inspired performances.

But going by the present scenario, not a single bowler in the team apart from Mohammad Amir has the ability to dictate terms to an opposition batsman and in that regard, Team India has been improving on this aspect with each passing day. The Indian pacers have been far better than their Pakistan counterparts and the same was acknowledged by former Pakistan greats Rashid Latif, Shoaib Akhtar and Saqlain Mushtaq. During the coverage of the Test series between Australia and Pakistan, the trio stated that the Indian pacers were better than the Pakistan pacers.

Speaking during the pre-show of Day 2 of the 3rd Test, Rashid Latif who was the anchor for the pre-match show went on to state that it was an embarrassment that the current crop of Indian pacers was performing much better than the Pakistani. Both Akhtar and Saqlain agreed with Latif’s word and said that the Pakistan team lacked that X-factor because of the corruption involved both financially and morally.

Akhtar went on to add that the norms which were there in Pakistan has been cut and that’s the reason behind their radicle decline in international cricket.
