India stalwart MS Dhoni, on Saturday, drew curtains on an illustrious international career through an Instagram video. Shocking the entire cricket fraternity, ‘Mahi’ finished off in style and silently walked off the biggest stage.

While announcing his retirement, Dhoni shared a video depicting his whole cricketing journey with the Indian side. From breaking into the national side as a young long-haired boy from Ranchi to becoming one of the most decorated skippers of India– Dhoni bid adieu to international cricket as a legend.

Upon his retirement, social media, in no time, was flooded with tributes and wishes for the Ranchi stalwart. Millions of fans lauded Dhoni for his stellar contribution to Indian cricket. Indian Railways, a vital part of Dhoni’s cricketing journey, also paid tribute to him through an amazing message.

We will miss you as a great performer: Ministry of Railways

“Cheers to the man who started his career with Indian Railways and ended with making India proud. We will miss you as a great performer,” wrote the Ministry of Railways on Twitter along with sharing Dhoni’s artwork.

Dhoni’s work as a ticket collector at Kharagpur was also showed in his biopic. He was seen running from one platform to another, from handing over quota charts to collecting fine from passengers.

The Ranchi stalwart eventually broke into the national side and never looked back. Dhoni’s exemplary captaincy saga started from the moment he lifted the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007. He later also clinched the ODI World Cup in 2011 and Champions Trophy in 2013, along with steering India to the No.1 position in Tests.

Amassing over 15,000 international runs and steering India to two World Cups and Champions Trophy, Dhoni’s finishing skills and leadership were considered second to none. Dhoni’s last appearance for India turned out to be the semi-final of 2019 World Cup against New Zealand.

After staying away from the field for over a year, Dhoni will be seen leading Chennai Super Kings in the thirteenth edition of the IPL, scheduled to be played in the UAE from September 19th. The CSK skipper is currently involved in their IPL training camp. Dhoni, along with his CSK teammates, will depart for UAE on August 21st.
